4/29/25 Celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope & Career Technical Education at Goddard Spaceflight Center!

Prepare to ignite your students’ curiosity and passion for the world of and career technical education. The application is open for educators to apply for their classroom to participate in a virtual interactive live Q&A panel featuring some of the NASA experts who worked on the Hubble Space Telescope. The Hubble Space Telescope began its groundbreaking mission in 1990, forever changing the way we understand our universe. Thirty-five years later, Hubble’s science continues to inspire. Its design, technology and serviceability have made it one of NASA’s most transformative observatories.
During this experience students can ask questions, learn about career paths, and get valuable advice from experts who are passionate about their work.

About the Internship:
Youth At Work (YAW) is a summer internship for youth in partnership between the City of Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, the Seattle King County NAACP, and the Associated Recreation Council (ARC).
 
This internship is designed to provide paid internship opportunities for teens between the ages of 15 to 17 who attend high school or enrolled in a high school educational program or post-secondary educational program.
 
The primary objective of YAW is to equip interns with work readiness training, practical work experience, and professional growth opportunities to explore potential career pathways. Throughout the program, participants will receive guidance and support from a trusted mentor.

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes, a program of the nonprofit organization Young Heroes Project, celebrates inspiring, public-spirited young people from diverse backgrounds all across the U.S. and Canada. Each year, the Barron Prize honors 25 outstanding young leaders ages 8 to 18 who have made a significant positive difference to people and the environment. Winners each receive $10,000 to be applied to their higher education or to their service project.

Career & Technical Scholarship (CTS) 101

Application Deadline: April 15th, 2025

CTS is one of three pathways to high-demand careers in Washington state offered by WSOS. This program provides up to $1,500 per quarter, every quarter, for certificate or associate degree programs at Washington’s 34 community and technical colleges, as well as approved apprenticeships. WSOS can cover costs beyond tuition, such as housing, transportation, food, and more. There are over 1,000 eligible programs at all of the state’s community and technical colleges.

If you’re interested in an associate degree, certificate, or apprenticeship from a community or technical college, or approved apprenticeship sponsor, then CTS is right for you!

University of Washington Nurse Camp

Join us for the 2025 UW School of Nursing Nurse Camp! We will take all precautions for a safe in-person camp this year. For more information on the UW Operational Guidance for Youth Programs, please visit the main University of Washington website.

Current high school sophomores and juniors who are interested in learning about the nursing field and how to get into nursing school are invited to apply.

This is a free week-long camp geared towards increasing access and opportunities in nursing to a more diverse population of high school sophomores and juniors who are at least 16 years of age by the first day of camp. Students from all backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to apply.

The Edmund F. Maxwell Foundation Scholarship

Maxwell Foundation Scholarship

Application Deadline:  May 9th, 2025

The Maxwell Scholarship was established to assist high school seniors from Western Washington in obtaining a higher education. For freshmen starting college during the 2025-26 academic year, scholarships will be $5,000 per year. This award has the potential to be renewed for up to an additional three years of undergraduate education based on reasonable progress toward graduation. A simple renewal application is required each year.
